Apply for Membership Online

Membership in the American Uveitis Society is open to all physicians and researchers with an active role in the care of patients with uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases or who are currently performing research in an area directly applicable to the field of ocular inflammatory disease or ocular immunology.

Full Member

  • You can apply for full membership under one of three different paths. All applications require submission of the online application form, a CV, and two letters of reference. If you completed a uveitis fellowship, please list your program director as one of your references.
  • Path 1: Uveitis fellowship. Completion of an AUPO compliant uveitis fellowship qualifies for membership. One of the two letters of reference needs to be from the Program Director of the uveitis fellowship.
  • Path 2: Practice or research emphasis in uveitis, with at least 30% of a full-time effort devoted to ocular inflammation or immunology qualifies for membership. The application should state the balance of the full-time effort.
  • Path 3: Publication of two scientific articles regarding ocular inflammation or immunology in the last 5 years qualifies for membership in most cases. Preference is for articles as first, senior, or corresponding author that are not case reports. Please submit the abstract and PDF of the articles with your application.

Member in Training (MIT)

  • The AUS welcomes applications from members in post-graduate training. The following categories are considered to be members in training. One letter of reference from the program director or surrogate to confirm status is required. MIT status will be maintained for one year after graduation after which time application for full membership is requested.
1. Ophthalmology residents, any program
2. Ophthalmology fellows, any specialty
3. Research fellow, post-doctoral, in a related field

Please note that submission of an application does not guarantee admission to membership. All applications, once complete, are reviewed by the AUS Membership Committee and then submitted for consideration for membership to the Executive Committee on a rolling basis.
